Terani Prom Dresses

Here are some tips for working the leggy look with 2011 Terani Couture dresses.

Remember when Cher’s boyfriend Christian told her she had “great stems” in the movie Clueless? He was admiring her legs. For most teenage girls, no matter your height or weight, they can be your best asset.

The bubble skirt is a new trend that has really taken off. Basically, it’s an adorable fold-under hem that creates a poof around the base of the garment. The poof can even be filled with something to make it extra poofy.

This hem is usually paired with a strapless, high-waisted look. This makes your “stems” appear even longer. The entire feel is sweet and brings to mind puff pastry and cream puffs and other yummy things to eat.

Tulle skirts are straight out of the fairy tales. Storybook illustrations in fairy tales often show the main female character wearing a full and fluffy shaped gown. This immediately brings to mind a “princess” theme.

The more layers you have at the bottom, the airier and more feathery it will be. Additional ribbons and ruffles are often added to give an added girlishness. Sometimes the layers are different colors or materials to add more vivacity.

This trend also takes its inspiration from a ballerina’s tutu. The overall silhouette makes the waist look small and the bum look rounder. Lengths are always above the knee and go as far up as the top of the thigh.

Some examples from the 2011 Terani Couture dresses catalog include:

• #35044H, which is white with orange and pink embroidered flowers, and an orange belt.
• #35018H, which comes in black with pink or gold embroidered flowers. These both have bubble hems.

• # 35041H and 35040H have the same bubbly bottom. And they feature 3-D looking flowers. The first comes in black with pink, gold or aqua rosettes. The other is available with both the material and flowers in white, green and lilac.

For examples that use tulle and other materials to add volume, see #35048H, 35047H and 35046H. The first has one-strap and shows how multi-colored layers create more verve. The other two are both one-color and portray a signature fairy princess expression.

It goes without saying that when you wear something of this nature, you should shave your legs. I would suggest going bare, meaning no nylons. Or perhaps wearing patterned tights that play off of the pattern of the gown. Fishnets will go nicely with a tulle-bottomed ensemble.

The shoes you wear may be either high-heeled or flats. Flats with a full skirt can be adorable; there is something enchanting about ballet slipper flats with a tutu-inspired outfit. And certainly higher heels will make your overall look even more leg-a-rific.

Girls who “have legs and know how to use them” will be wearing 2011 Terani Couture dresses at prom. And partying all night!
